April
2006 - Donating time as well as money, Raul Berrios and his landscaping crew,
RulyScapes, in Centreville stepped up to make the landscape appealing to all
visitors and students. Raul Berrios spent $600-700 to help beautify the land as
well as to spread out mulch for the project. He and his crew mulched and edged
the front of the school and also donated more than half of the landscaping costs
that were needed to complete this project. Not only did Berrios spend money in
the spring, but he also contributed $400 in the fall for mulching.
RulyScapes hopes to continue to make consumers happy and lawns beautiful and healthy for the school and the community. "We have high expectations for ourselves," said the Berrios family. Not only does RulyScapes contribute to the school, but it also helps to sponsor other area activities including "Clifton Day" and the Gate Post Estates Picnic Day. "Mr. Berrios and the RulyScapes crew made the school one of the most beautiful schools in Fairfax County. Keeping the school grounds looking attractive helps brighten each person's life - all the students, teachers, staff, and visitors. To continue to help the school look pleasing, I want to encourage everyone to pick up or dispose of any trash," said Mona Miller, PTSA Landscape Chairperson.
The upcoming landscaping project is to prune and mulch the trees on the school campus. Students can earn service hours by volunteering with the landscaping program. To volunteer for the upcoming landscaping project visit the PTSA web site at http://ptsa.westfieldhs.org.
