Here are several updates from the PTSA and several groups around WHS:
8/20: Freshmen/New Student Parent Night, 7 pm
8/22: First PTSA meeting, 7 pm
8/26: Bulldog BBQ, 5-8 pm
8/27: Seniors Only Parking Meeting, 12-3 pm
8/28: All drivers Parking Meeting, 9 am -12 pm
8/29: New Student Orientation
9/2: First Day of School
9/5: First Football Game
- Thank you to the April Milner who recently volunteered to be the Directory Chair and to Tricia Monroe who was voted in to the 2nd Vice President position! Also, thank you to student Carolina Sosa who is going to coordinate a presentation for parents who are both new to WHS and English is not a first language.
- Parking Spot Raffle: There will be a raffle for the two closest student parking spaces! Tickets can be purchased during the Bulldog BBQ and at both parking meetings! All students who purchase a parking pass are invited to try for a really close parking spot!
- Please join the WHS PTSA this year! Help us support all students and staff members at Westfield! This year’s membership form is posted on the Westfield student packet section of the WHS website. http://www.fcps.edu/WestfieldHS/students/studentpacket/ptsamembership.pdf Forms can be turned in with your student forms prior to the BBQ, if convenient for you. Everyone who joins by October 6th will be entered into a drawing for a new Kindle Fire HD!
- The 2014-2015 Bulldog BBQ will take place on Tuesday, August 26th from 5 to 8 pm. Donations are still being accepted for the silent auction! Please email Usma Johnson at usma_4697@hotmail.com and Becky Martin at bocm61@cox.net . The PTSA is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible.
- Bulldog BBQ and Student Paperwork: Details will be sent via a Keep In Touch message soon.
- Westfield Reads Program: Don’t forget: this summer, Peak by Roland Smith has been selected as the book for all students and staff to read. For more information on Westfield Reads and other summer assignments, please visit the WHS website: http://www.fcps.edu/WestfieldHS/index.html
- A number of key events that require volunteer help have been scheduled. Details will come out soon, but please mark your calendars for the following:
*Staff Lunch – Date TBD. Donations will be needed please.
*August 26 – Bulldog BBQ - Many volunteers needed
*September 17 – 11/12 Back to School Night (Volunteers needed at the Bulldog Café)
*September 30 – 9/10 Back to School Night (Volunteers needed at the Bulldog Café)
*October 7 and 8 – Hearing/Vision screening (Volunteers needed throughout the day, both days)

9. The WHS Marching Band is looking to fill a couple final spots. No experience necessary. Everything the student needs to know will be taught. If your student wants to get involved and have something fun and rewarding to do this fall, please encourage him/her to join the largest marching band in VA! Contact Mr. Panoff at sepanoff@fcps.edu as soon as possible! It’s not too late.
10. The WHS Color Guard is looking for a couple more people to join. Band camp has started but there’s still time! Contact Mr. Panoff as soon as possible at sepanoff@fcps.edu
11. The Westfield Athletic Boosters are holding the Bulldog Golf Classic at the Chantilly National Country Club on Monday, September 8th. This is the main fundraiser for student/athletes at WHS, including scholarships, program support and other initiatives.
