Response to FCPS Online Textbooks

FCPS has introduced online textbooks for all math courses in K-12 for the 2012-13 school year.  Social studies courses went to online textbooks in the 2011-12 school year, but more broadly this academic year.  Below is a link to the OHS PTSA’s response to this issue.  There are additional relevant links, some of which look at the longer term online textbook evolution from the perspective of a couple of college communities.

It's Academic 2012

Congratulations to the members of the Scholastic Bowl. The Westfield team made it to Regionals and were district runner-up for the first time in Westfield history. Great job!

Congratulations to the Westfield Band!

This past weekend at the VBODA State Music Assessment at Centreville High School, the Westfield High School Wind Symphony capped three days of spectacular performances at this event. The Westfield Concert Band, the Westfield Symphonic Band, and the Westfield Wind Symphony each received straight superior ratings from ALL of the judges. While other bands received overall ratings of Superior, the Westfield Band was the only group to have all of their groups receive such recognition.

United Nations Club

Westfield High School's Model United Nations Club (WeMUN) has had another successful year. Over 70 WeMUN student delegates bring fresh and diverse perspectives to global challenges, discussing solutions to global poverty, disease, and homelessness. They hone their debate skills in competitions as they foster new understandings of international affairs with other like-minded students from the local area, around Virginia, the United States, and even overseas.
