The PTSA Academic Celebration of Excellence (A.C.E.) Committee coordinates several events through the school year, as outlined below:

  1. Honor Roll Recognition:Students who qualify for any of the school's three honor rolls each of the first three quarters of the school year are eligible to participate in the "A Day" celebration which takes place the day that report cards are distributed. During all lunch periods, students should bring their report cards to the PTSA volunteers to receive raffle tickets. They will enter into a variety of possible drawings of local businesses. Winners will be announced later the same day. Available also are Honor Roll magnets or stickers for all who qualify for the Honor Roll!
  2.  Academic Letter Ceremony: The A.C.E. committee assists the Student Services Department with the annual Academic Letter Ceremony, traditionally held in November. Students earn an Academic Letter based on the final grades earned the year prior. Currently, students must earn a 4.0 on the year's grades to earn the Academic Letter. The GPA used for the Academic Letter determination is not cumulative (for students who have more than one year's grades), instead it is solely based on the prior year's grades. Qualified students will be notified by the Student Services Department prior to the ceremony and parents/guardians and students are invited to attend.
  3. PTSA Scholarships:  Annually, PTSA scholarships are awarded. The number and values of scholarships are determined annually by the scholarship committee, with the scholarships being funded by both community donations and the annual mulch sale. Qualifications and application procedures are announced each spring, with details posted on the PTSA website and available in the Career Center.

To be eligible for the WHS PTSA scholarship: Class of 2019 Seniors must be members by October 31, 2018.

Class of 2020 and beyond must be members for a minimum of two years to include their senior year. The 2019 deadline is Friday, May 3, 2019.
